In November, May was invited to join Virgin StartUp as a mentor to advise founders who have received funding and are on a journey to start, grow or scale their businesses.
Virgin StartUp – the lowdown
Virgin StartUp is a not for profit organisation founded by Richard Branson who have supported founders start up and excel in their business ventures since 2013. They have helped tens of thousands of founders to date.
They provide:
- Business Advice & Education
- Access to funding
- Mentoring & training programs
All intended to make the entrepreneurial journey less stressful and more structured. You can learn more about them here.
What does this mean for May?
May chose to get involved with Virgin StartUp as they have pledged to equally fund female founders via their 50/50 Pledge initiative – something that May is very passionate about, this was what really swung it!
Distributing more of the world’s wealth into the hands of women around the globe is our mission here at May James Ltd, so this commitment compliments our objective.
Sadly, merely getting access to a startup loan can be a hurdle for so many intelligent and motivated women with incredible ideas, let alone accessing investment and other funding resources.
Innovation & entrepreneurship is essential now more than ever – Virgin StartUp is aiming to make success more accessible and less troublesome for founders. If you are a founder needing capital and looking for non-equity based funding options, Virgin StartUp could be what you are looking for.
